PRISM Quartet with Pianist George Emmanuel Lazaridis

Showcasing the music of one of Greece’s contemporary composers, the Onassis Cultural Center NY presents a concert of works by Giorgos Koumendakis, whose eclectic works range from chamber pieces to the music for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The program, performed by the PRISM Saxophone Quartet and pianist George Emmanuel Lazaridis, features Koumendakis’s Typewriter Tune and the US premiere of excerpts from his piece Mediterranean Desert, Steven Mackey’s Animal, Vegetable, Mineral in a new transcription made especially for this concert, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition  in Zankel Hall.
