Le Saxophone Spectral
PRISM presents the saxophone as viewed through the spectral lens of French composers from the last two decades. The music of Gerard Grisey, Philippe Leroux, Hugues Dufourt, Philippe Hurel, and Fabien Levy – at once visceral, ethereal, and complex – uses as its inspiration the natural acoustical properties of sound waves to inform its rich texture, structure, and harmony. A fascinating musical language spoken through the timbre and resonance of the saxophone.
